London Irish Vets or the 'Bs' as we are affectionately known are one of the longest standing teams in the London Irish Amateur Club. Originally set up well into the last century by a visionary player called Des Egan he wanted to form a social team full of characters, raconteurs and anyone who wasn't bland with a common love of rugby. That ethos is still very much present today and the Bs are generally made up of those players looking to play at a decent standard but with more than one eye on enjoying the social side that the game brings. We are very inclusive and age and talent has no restrictions - we have many players who turn out well into their 60's and several have returned to lace up their boots after a lengthy sabbatical to see if they have 'still got it'.

The season is filled with a mixture of friendly and league matches against local clubs. We also enjoy annual tours to Ireland for 'The Raid' and the big Spring tour to Europe. These are always hugely popular affairs with upwards of 50 players and 'alikadoos' in attendance. Touring is everything what the Bs are about - playing rugby, socialising with your mates, singing, drinking, eating and of course raconteurs are to the fore! We also turn out every Thursday night from 7.30pm at Hazelwood to chuck a ball about in a game of touch rugby which keeps the pounds off right up to the point we head to the bar!
