It is with great sadness to inform you that Andrew Hughes, (49) the eldest son of Paddy and Anthea, passed away on 15th December 2022 at Princess Alice Hospice, Esher, surrounded by his close family. He lost his courageous 17-month battle to the most aggressive form of brain cancer.
Andrew was a paramedic with the London Ambulance Service and much admired by colleagues and patients alike. He was always calm and provided essential care, comfort, and reassurance to so many in their times of desperate need. He was a very special guy; kind-hearted and generous with an infectious smile, a wicked sense of humour, and loved nothing more than an adventure, with a BBQ and a beer.
He is survived by his wife, Zoe, children Josh (16) and Emily (14), his siblings, Joey, Paul, Lucy and his parents, Paddy and Anthea. We send our heartfelt condolences to them as well as his many relatives and friends all over the world. He will be greatly missed.
Andrew’ father, Paddy, will be known to many at London Irish as one of the founding leading lights of Mini and Youth rugby in November 1979 and organiser of the first London Irish Mini festival on 4th April 1982.
Andrew’s funeral will be held on Monday 16th January at 12.20pm, at South West Middlesex Crematorium, Hounslow Road, Feltham, TW13 5JH and afterwards at The Winning Post, Chertsey Road, Whitton, TW2 6LS.
