Andy passed on 5th Jan and to quote the Times 'after an illness borne with great courage'
Many members regarded him as a formidable back row player and staunch member of the club.
Lieutenant Colonel Andrew John Wentworth Higginson OBE RM (Retd) served in the Royal Marines and was awarded both the MBE and later the OBE for his service.
According to Paddy Lennon, Andy held London Irish close to his heart and said it meant a great deal to him. It was not surprising then to learn that Andy demonstrated his dedication to the cause by traveling twice weekly from Portsmouth to Sunbury for training!
As both a resident of Barnes and Connemara, Andy bumped into Paddy in Clifden, and it soon became clear to the editor of the Club's history that Andy's love for the club had not diminished over time. No doubt if Paddy does a second edition he will merit a mention!
Our sincere condolence to his family at this difficult time.
