Chichester vs London Irish Wild Geese

Chichester vs London Irish Wild Geese

Matthew Cassin8 Sep 2023 - 04:53

First away game of the season against old rivals

The Wild Geese travel to the south coast this weekend as they look to start the next chapter of their storied past.

The last season we played Chichester was 2021/2022 when both games went the way of tomorrow's opposition.

November 2021 saw a Geese team who were learning to walk again after the effects of the pandemic fall to Chichester 38-14 after a series of yellow cards put Irish on the back foot for most of the game.

The return fixture was the amateur club's St. Patrick's Day game at the end of March 2022. This time around, the competition was a lot more level, finishing 17-19 to Chichester. The signs of improvement now very present under the watchful eyes of Sean O'Brien and Paddy Jackson.

Before the 21/22 season we last played the West Sussex side in our league winning 2015/16 season where we overcame them both home and away (LI 52-38 CHI, CHI 7-28 LI)

Head to head, Chichester have won 6 of our last meetings while the Geese sit on 3 wins. The average score for our clashes also sees Chichester on top with the average score per game being 29-20 but if the Geese need anything to prove they can upset the odds, it has to be last week's game. To concede 42 points and still win shows that we have what it takes to keep our head down and work harder to get the win.
