After 75 years of hope, heartbreak and unwavering belief, Mayo have once again reached the summit of Gaelic football, ending one of the longest waits in Irish sporting history.

For generations of Mayo supporters, the dream of bringing Sam Maguire back to the county has been passed from parent to child, through victories, near misses and unforgettable finals. Throughout it all, the people of Mayo never lost their pride in their county or their passion for the green and red jersey.

That resilience, loyalty and determination are values that resonate deeply with us at London Irish Amateur Rugby Football Club. While our sport is rugby, we proudly celebrate the wider Irish sporting family and recognise achievements that inspire Irish communities both at home and across the world.

Many of our members, volunteers and supporters have close ties to Mayo and the west of Ireland. We know just how much this victory means—not only to those celebrating in Castlebar and across the county, but to the Mayo diaspora around the globe, including here in London.

This triumph is about far more than silverware. It is a celebration of perseverance, community and the belief that success is earned through years of dedication, sacrifice and never giving up.

As a club built on Irish heritage, we are proud to join in the celebrations and congratulate the players, coaches, volunteers, supporters and everyone involved with Mayo GAA on a truly historic achievement.
