Substance , Style , Spirit !

This week we welcomed a new Coach and Mentor to the Emerald squad. Former ex-professional England Rugby Player, Abi Chamberlain.

Abi took up rugby at the age of 21 while at Loughborough University, and has since made a real name for herself in both the 15-a-side and sevens circuit, winning over 25 caps for England. Abi went on to know great privilege as a Captain of a group of players who pioneered professionalism in the women's game. In 2013 she captained England 7s World Series. She continued to pioneer progression as part of the debut squad that qualified Team Great Britain for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. More recently she played at Richmond RFC as Fly half until she retired from professional rugby in 2019. Abi experienced the direct impact of the Women’s premiership restructure as Richmond RFC were not successful in their bid to remain in the Premiership for the 2020-23 seasons.

Professionally Abi is a performance, leadership and change specialist in the technology, finance and cosmetics sectors. She is an experienced facilitator, qualified educator and executive coach and mentor. Her sporting experience has exposed her to the opportunity to learn first-hand the importance of resilience, a value we are embedding and promoting in the Emeralds as we enter the next stage of our development.

Abi will be a great addition to the Emeralds Coaching team as we navigate the challenges of this precarious Covid impacted season in the Championship.
