Hugh joined London Irish in 1949 just after leaving college and was a very useful wing threequarter. Over the years he served on many committees, particularly the general committee and was President of the Club 1998 -1990. Hugh, and his wife Barbara were long-time supporters at Sunbury.

An architect by profession, Hugh gave his expertise and time to the Club on numerous occasions and designed and supervised the building of the extensions to the Club’s pavilion.

He will be remembered by many as the welcoming smile at the gate when collection entrance fees when the 1st XV were playing at Sunbury.

Hugh’s contributions to the after match discussions over many pints were enjoyed by all who took part.

A memorial service will be held on Friday 18th October 2019, at Chelsea Old Church, Cheyne Walk, London SW3. Further details to follow.
