Glasgow Hutcheson’s Aloysians RFC is situated in the leafy south Glasgow suburb of Giffnock.

"We are extremely proud to be the Scottish representatives and honoured to be invited to Hazelwood again"
- Glasgow Hutcheson’s Aloysians RFC

The club was established by the 2002 merger between Clarkston / Glasgow Southern RFC and Hutchesons’ RFC – Aloysians RFC and its history dates back to 1923.

The merger between the former pupils (FPs) clubs of Hutchesons’ Grammar School and St. Aloysius’ College alongside Clarkston / Glasgow Southern RFC was to create the premier rugby team on the South Side of Glasgow.

After a few bumps along the way, the merged club is now firmly established as the top club on the South Side of Glasgow.

The club plays its home matches at Braidholm and the first XV are currently bobbing up and down between the Scottish Premiership and National League 1. Hopefully we can stay in the premiership for good soon!

Some of our notable players gaining international caps have been Gordon Bulloch ( Scotland & British & Irish Lions, Euan Murray (Scotland) and Johnny Ventesei, with Glasgow Warriors and recent winner of Youth Commonwealth games at Sevens. We have also had players represent international teams at youth level.

We have the largest youth rugby set up in Scotland with approximately 250 children in the Under 6-12 (Minis) and a further 180 children in U13-18s (Youth). This is all supported by 65 volunteer coaches, all of which have UKCC Level qualifications.

This will be our third year GHA RFC have attended the London Irish Tournament and each time we visit it’s getting better and better. Last year we made so many friends we then hosted our Dutch friends Haagsche RFC in October 2023 on their Scottish Tour.

This tournament brings clubs from all over Europe together and creates memories and friendships which last a lifetime. This year kids from our Under 12 and Under 11 year groups will be coming to Hazelwood for more fun!

We are extremely proud to be the Scottish representatives and honoured to be invited to Hazelwood again. If you see us around wearing the Kilts, the Tunnocks tea cakes, Irn Bru etc then please come and say hello, we may even let you see the Calcutta cup….??
