The inaugural London Irish Amateur International Girls Festival, taking place on 30th April 2023, is set to be a success with many clubs having formally entered. The event has been organised to coincide with the milestone Red Roses vs. France match at Twickenham and the bank holiday. The festival will start with games for U12-18 age groups, followed by prizes, food, drinks and entertainment in our clubhouse.

“The response has been phenomenal and we are delighted to welcome teams from Old Reigatians, Farnham, Guildford, Old Grammarians, Fullerians, Harlequins Amateurs, Dorking, Hillingdon Valkyries, Chobham, Richmond RFC, Battersea Ironsides, Weybridge Valkyries, Reeds Rebels Basingstoke and Grasshoppers to the festival, along with teams coming from De La Salle Palmerston and St. Mary's College in Dublin”, said Simon Platt (Head Coach Girls U16).

In another exciting development, we are excited to announce that the festival will be officially supported by Middlesex Rugby. Louise Latter, Chair of Rugby Development at Middlesex County RFU says “I’m pleased to be collaborating with Surrey Rugby and London Irish Amateur to bring all four age groups together in a single one-day festival. In 2010, we established the St George’s Day festival to provide girls development opportunities to play together in a festival format, when there wasn’t a lot of playing opportunities available to them. It is so great to see that, 14 years on, the girls have multiple playing opportunities to choose from and I’m pleased that we are working to build on the success of the St George’s Day festival. Hopefully the girls will feel inspired by the Red Roses playing in their first standalone fixture at Twickenham on the Saturday and enjoy the festival”.

Entries to the festival are still open, but we would urge you to act quickly in order to secure your place (Click to register here).
