London Irish were in spirited and confident form as they ran in 11 tries V Ashford Ladies RFC with six different try scorers.
The Emeralds were relentless from the off and scored 3 tries by half-time retiring at half time with a 26-5 lead. Ashford Ladies, known for their physicality, could not match London Irish's intensity, they were blown away as winger Niamh led the way in the second half with four tries. Other try scorers were Hari McCormack, Becca Charles, Allie Nelkon, Beth Statham and Captain Sophie Messem sealing the competition with a final try. With 7 conversions from Jemma Smith and a further 2 from Zoe Cox , the 11 tries amounted to a final score of 73-5 to the Emeralds.
London Irish Ladies begin their quest for a third successive promotion into the Championship, now competing in National Championship 1 (South East). They will next play Streatham & Croydon at home in their second test next Sunday, September 15th when they intend to build on their positive start.
