London Irish Minis & Youth Make a Big Impression at Lensbury

Liam Caplis16 Jun - 16:03

As part of our preparations for the new season, our Minis & Youth section was delighted to attend the Lensbury Riverside Festival

The excitement and enthusiasm we saw at Lensbury gives us great confidence as we look ahead to the new season.
- Paul O'Callaghan Under 6 Team Manager

What a fantastic day for London Irish Amateur at Lensbury(Click here), showcasing energy, enthusiasm and talent that makes London Irish such a special club.

Throughout the day, our stand was buzzing with activity. We were overwhelmed by the level of interest from mums, dads and children keen to learn more about joining London Irish. It was wonderful to meet so many local families looking for a rugby club that offers not just great coaching, but a genuine sense of community, friendship and belonging.

There was also significant interest from parents wanting to understand the wider London Irish pathway. Many dads in particular were asking about our senior men’s and women’s teams, our Youth Section (Click here) and how young players can progress through the club as they grow older. It was encouraging to see so much enthusiasm not only for Minis rugby (Click here), but for the long-term opportunities that London Irish can offer players from their very first training session through to adult rugby.

Our coaching team ran a series of training demonstrations that highlighted the skills, teamwork and enjoyment that sit at the heart of our Minis & Youth programme. The young players who took part were a credit to themselves, their parents and the club, demonstrating exactly what London Irish rugby is all about.

A huge thank you must go to Lensbury for hosting such a well-organised event and providing local sports clubs with an opportunity to engage with the community. Events like these are invaluable in encouraging children into sport and helping families discover the opportunities available on their doorstep.

We would also like to thank our dedicated coaches and volunteers who gave up their time to represent the club. Their passion, commitment and energy were evident throughout the day and helped create such a positive experience for everyone who visited us.

Most importantly, thank you to all the families who stopped by our stand, joined in the activities and expressed an interest in becoming part of the London Irish family.

The excitement and enthusiasm we saw at Lensbury gives us great confidence as we look ahead to the new season. There is a real sense of momentum building around our Minis & Youth section, and we cannot wait to welcome both new and returning players back to training.

The future of London Irish is bright. From Minis and Youth rugby through Colts and into our senior teams, we are committed to creating a pathway that allows every player to develop, compete and remain part of the London Irish family for life.

Our 2026/27 Minis and Youth season begins on Sunday 6 September at Hazelwood, and after the response we received at Lensbury, we are looking forward to welcoming many new families alongside our existing members for what promises to be an exciting year ahead.

Fun. Friendship. Family.

We look forward to seeing you all at Hazelwood very soon.
