Former London Irish player Ollie Waldron passed away suddenly at home in Colla Hill, Schull, County Cork on 18th August 2026 at the age of 83.
Ollie was a University College Cork, Oxford University and London Irish forward. He won Blues for Oxford as a postgraduate in 1965 and 1967.
Ollie was a talented player who graced the Sunbury pitch in the mid-1960s with the likes of Tony O’ Reilly, Mike Gibson, Pat Lavery and John Moroney. He was capped three times by Ireland appearing twice in the 1966 five nations as a lock forward partnering Willie John Mc Bride against Scotland and Wales at Lansdowne Road and his last cap for Ireland was on 26th October 1968 in a 10-3 win against Australia.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ollie’s wife, Margo, and their sons Jonathan, Gavin, Jaimie and Richard.
