Dear Members,
As we approach this year’s AGM, the Executive Committee has been reflecting carefully on what the Club most needs at this moment in its journey. With Project Reset now underway, the continued stabilisation of our rugby operations, and the vital work to secure Hazelwood as the long-term home of LIARFC, it is clear that the year ahead will require unity, stability and a shared sense of purpose across the whole Club.
In recent weeks, a number of dedicated volunteers have stepped forward to offer their time and experience to the Executive Committee. Their willingness to serve reflects the strength of commitment that exists within our membership and the collective desire to move the Club forward.
At the same time and following constructive and respectful discussions with several individuals who had been considering standing for election, it has been agreed that the Club’s best interests are served by avoiding contested elections at this AGM. A period of calm, steady leadership — free from division or distraction — will give the incoming Executive the best possible platform to deliver the work ahead.
To support this approach, the following individuals have confirmed that they will not stand for election this
year:
• Jamie Balls – Current Chair
• Suzanne Clark – Current Treasurer
• Joe Byrne – Nomination for President
• Simon Martinson – Nomination for Vice-President
• Chris Magowan – Nomination for Vice-Chair
• Gerry Holland – Current Honorary Secretary
Their decision is grounded in a shared commitment to the Club’s stability and to ensuring that the next Executive can begin its work with clarity, cohesion and full support from the membership.
As a result, the following nominees will stand unopposed for election to the Executive Committee for the
coming year:
President Nick Jackson
President-Elect Miriam Brown
Chairman Paul O’Callaghan
Vice-Chairman Andy Hallam
Honorary Secretary Susan Espi
Honorary Treasurer Alan Duggan
Adult Rugby Chair Trevor Johnson
Youth Rugby Chair Mark Tanner
Mini Rugby Chair Adam Williams
Ladies Rugby Chair Mary Fyfe
This proposed Executive represents a united, capable and forward-looking group of volunteers who are ready to begin work immediately. Their focus will be on delivering Project Reset, strengthening rugby across all sections, and securing the long-term foundations that will allow LIARFC to thrive.
I hope that members will feel able to endorse this uncontested slate so that the Club can move ahead with confidence, stability and a renewed sense of shared purpose.
Thank you for your continued support of London Irish Amateur RFC.
Yours sincerely,
Jamie Balls MBE
Chair, London Irish Amateur
