Micky Byrne was 88 years old and passed away on 15th November in Cork. He played for London Irish from the mid-1950s until 1966 when he returned to Ireland having amassed 350 first team appearances
In the 1959-1960 season, he was part of the great London Irish team that played 36, won 35, and lost 1. That team included Irish internationals, a British and Irish lion, and Marriott Irons with whom Micky was awarded an honours tie the previous season.
Micky was London Irish through and through and so proud of the huge number of games he played for the first XV. Club members have been asked to reflect and celebrate his life as that is what he would have wished.
His funeral will take place at the church of the Sacred Heart, Glounthaune, Cork, on Monday 29 November.
Rest in Peace
