London Irish Amateur would like to remind members and visitors we have a No Dogs allowed Policy on the Hazelwood site except guide & service dogs.

"dog excrement can cause toxocariasis – a nasty infection that can lead to dizziness, nausea, asthma and even blindness or seizures"
- Keep Britain Tidy

Hazelwood-Centre and London Irish Amateur have a No Dogs allowed Policy over the whole Hazelwood Facility.

Why?

Here is what Keepbritaintidy.org has to say:

"Dog fouling is not only deeply unpleasant, it is dangerous. Whilst rare, contact with dog excrement can cause toxocariasis – a nasty infection that can lead to dizziness, nausea, asthma and even blindness or seizures."

What does the NHS say about toxocariasis?

"Toxocariasis is a rare infection caused by roundworm parasites. Humans can catch it from handling soil or sand contaminated with infected animal faeces"

What can players, members, parents and friends who see a dog on the Hazelwood grounds do?

If you see anyone anywhere at anytime of the year within the grounds of Hazelwood with a dog, please remind them we have a no dogs policy and kindly ask them to remove their dog immediately

What if they say they didn't know?

You can remind them their is a sign on the entry gate and the dangers of toxocariasis especially in relation to the sport of rugby.

We take the welfare of all our playing, non playing and visitors very seriously and it is a responsibility on us all to maintain these standards. Thank you.
