14 teams of four golfers contested the Wild Geese Trophy which was won on the day by “The Aardvarks”, a team led by Jamie Douglas who was joined by David Watt, Ulick Burke and Brian Kirwan. The Ardvarks won with a great score of 92 points.

Arcs Energy led by Joe Hanberry were second and CJ O’Shea Group led by Rory O’Connor were third, beating Kevin Clancy’s Clancy Group team on a count back. Matt Cannon (Clancy Group) won longest drive, John Gilligan (Novitas) won nearest the pin and Jim McMillan (CJ O’Shea Group) won the putting competition.

The golf was followed by dinner, an auction and the prize giving in the fabulous and historic surroundings of the Walton Heath Golf Club, under Covid restrictions of course! We welcomed our club president Gerry Gallagher and our club chairman Kevin Flynn who both attended the dinner.

The club thanks all those who entered teams and successfully bid for auction items, supporting amateur rugby by doing so. We also thank Finbarr Kelly and Keith Masterson for their generous sponsorship.

The club’s golf day is held annually at Walton Heath Golf Club and provides a fantastic opportunity for members to entertain clients or friends at one of England’s most iconic heathland golf courses, famous for lots of reasons, but mainly for hosting the 1981 Ryder Cup and for being used annually for the European qualifying tournament for the USA Open.

Next Year's event will be held on 8th June 2022, so please make a note in your diary.
