The game started with an onslaught from Ealing, the referee had no sympathy for Irish in the scrum, rewarding the side who went forward, albeit driving up. It took the Wild Geese front row half an hour to stay low but by then it was 21-0.
The game could easily have runaway from the visitors and despite Ealing adding a bonus point score at the stoke of half time 27-0 the flow was changing with Irish were getting physically on parr and managing partity at the scrum.
The second half saw Irish chasing and running hard, the carries counted and but for some solid first up tackling the game may have swung earlier.
In the end Irish secured the bonus point and missed out on a second as the conversion sailed wide before the final whistle. The boys fought hard against a good side and played gusty rugby.
Such games are won and lost on confidence and application. The Wild Geese have the ability but now must believe.
