London Irish Amateurs not financially impacted by London Irish professional teams administration

Miriam Brown7 Jun 2023 - 20:24

UPDATE

Further to our message yesterday and following the difficult and unfortunate news that the London Irish professional team have now gone into administration, the Executive committee of London Irish Amateur Rugby Football club (LIARFC) would like to reassure you that we have no financial association, liability and indeed dependency on the professional team.

We share a history, name, and of course an emotional link. This means that their administration does not affect the financial viability of the amateur club and any of our teams including the Wild Geese (Men’s 1st team), Emeralds (Women’s 1st team) and all the various age groups across minis, girls, and youth.

We remain a tenant at Hazelwood with a valid 15-year lease and operating agreement. We are commencing discussions with the appointed Administrator to ensure, as legal tenants, we retain access to the clubhouse, pitches and changing rooms.

We will also be working closely with the Hazelwood management team, which operates as an independent trading company, to identify ways to replace lost revenue from the professionals.

We would be grateful if you could assist in promoting this message of the continued existence and viability of the amateur club and all its teams.

This is a difficult and unsettling time for all those involved with the professional club and our hearts and best wishes go out to all those affected by this sad news.

Yours in rugby

Kevin Flynn
Chairman - LIARFC
