Biography
Meet Jack Spruce, the Lead Sports Rehabilitator for the Emeralds, who blends academic knowledge with practical experience to keep athletes performing at their best. A graduate in Sports Rehabilitation and currently completing a master’s in Applied Strength & Conditioning, Jack brings both clinical precision and performance insight to his role.
Jack’s rugby journey began at Wymondham Rugby Club, where he played from the age of five through to adulthood. In his teenage years, he was involved in the Leicester Tigers DPP and the Scottish Exiles programme. Unfortunately, repeated shoulder injuries ended his playing career early — but sparked a deep passion for helping other athletes return to the game stronger than ever.
Since graduating, Jack has worked closely with the Emeralds, initially joining the club on placement before stepping into a lead role. Alongside rugby, he provides injury rehabilitation support to athletes across a range of sports in both North West and South West London. While his primary focus is injury rehab, he also enjoys supporting the team’s kicking development when opportunities arise.
Jack's approach is rooted in trust, empathy, education, and keeping things fun — believing that a supportive environment is key to long-term success. He adopts an athlete-centred, evidence-based philosophy, always prioritising long-term development over quick fixes.
A lesser-known fact about Jack is that he can juggle — and he’s also full of useful trivia, like the fact that giraffes have the same number of neck vertebrae as humans! He brings humour and heart to his role and is committed to helping every player thrive both on and off the pitch.
